this sexy machine boasts a 3.15- x 1.85- x 0.39-inch enclosure, 2.4-inch QVGA touchscreen, landscape layout, built-in FM radio tuner, audio input for recording, headphone jack, USB 2.0 connectivity, and eight pre-loaded equalizer functions. Aside from playing nice with MP3 / WAV on the audio side, it also reportedly supports XviD, DivX, and AVI on the video front, while displaying JPEG slideshows and simple text files on the side.
The 604-WiFi features 802.11g wireless connectivity, which allows consumers to browse the Internet, send and receive Web-based email, and play media files from their home computer to the device or to the TV. The 30GB* device retails for $449.99 and is available now at the Archos website and select Sam’s Club stores nationwide.
Navigadget gives us a hands-on preview of the Viliv P2. Just to recap, this player supports MPEG-1/2/4, H.264, DivX, WMV 7/8/9, XviD, MP3, WMA, OGG, AC-3, and WAV formats. It’s powered by an AMD processor (400MHz) and offers 60GB of storage space
The unit is equipped with a 4.3-inch colour Liquid Crystal Display, that probably has a resolution of 480x272 (guesstimate). It comes with all the standard features such as movie viewing, music playback, DMB, an FM tuner, GPS navigation (with an optional cradle) and a document viewer. But what rocks most about this thing is that it supposedly supports HD quality TV out.
Video playback is where the 604 shines. According to the specs, it's compatible with MPEG-4 ASP up to 720x480 at 30fps, AVI file container with MP4 file format, WMV9, and protected WMV. Unlike the Cowon, it's not DivX certified, and it doesn't play MPEG-2. However, many of our DivX files played without a hitch. You can also download plug-ins that will let you play H.264 and MPEG-2 files--they will be available soon at about $10 each (there's mention of AAC and AC3 support too).
Soon to be released is the T43, basically a V43 with an antenna - it supports DMB and DAB, as well as several PDA functions and one can also play games on it (there's a "Multimedia Acceleration Engine" in there).
The new U2 iPod is based on the fifth generation 30GB iPod and holds up to 7,500 songs, 25,000 photos or over 75 hours of video and features a distinctive, all-black stainless steel enclosure, red Click Wheel and custom engraving of U2 band member signatures. U2 iPod customers will also receive 30 minutes of exclusive U2 video downloadable from the iTunes Music Store.
The i1055 Video System by iLuv (doesn't the name just roll off your tongue?) has a dock that fits either the 30GB or 60GB iPod and a 7" widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) active-matrix LCD for playing your 'Pod's content. Just plug your iPod in and go.
The FM tuner and dedicated controls along the side were found to be a bonus and that cross-hair controller was both "tactile and delicate" allowing for "fluid and responsive" navigation even while multitasking. It also comes with a USB-conversion cable for transferring snaps off digital cameras without additional accessories.
The Toshiba Gigabeat V30T runs Microsoft's Portable Media Center and features a 3.5 inch color TFT screen with QVGA resolution and 400cd/m2 brightness. Toshiba integrated PVR functionality inside the V30T allowing you to record TV programs directly onto the 30GB hard-drive.
Other than the NES emulation, the X720 has a 3-inch 960×240px 1600k colors LTPS screen, a built-in camera, 512MB/1GB of internal memory and a SD card slot for expansion, FM Tuner and it supports MP3/WMA/JPEG/BMP/ GIF/AVI formats.
MobiBLU went back to the lab to improve upon their last geometric creation, this time it is in color. The size still remains the same 28mm cubed, but they have improved upon the design by rounding the corners and recessing the lanyard hook to give it a sleeker look and feel.
The 2GB, 4GB, and 6GB are a new breed of high capacity flash based MP3 player set to compete in features, as well as price, with the Samsung Z5 and iPod Nano. The Sansa e200 has a few advantages over the two, such as a brilliant 1.8” screen, video playback, expandable memory, and a user replaceable batter.
SanDisk, seemingly out of nowhere, has come up with something to shake up the portable audio market. They will be an interesting competitor to watch.
